Lissa spent a year as a prosecutor on the domestic violence team at the Lane County District Attorney’s Office. There, she prosecuted cases alongside some of the same prosecutors that she litigates against today. Domestic violence cases are simply prosecuted differently. Client was going through a contentious divorce. His soon-to-be-ex-wife filed a restraining order in an attempt to get leverage in the proceedings. Then, she had client arrested for allegedly violating the restraining order, in a further attempt to gain leverage. Within a matter of hours, Lissa had explained the situation to the DA who was reviewing the case, and convinced the DA not to file any charges, securing the client’s release from jail.
